Pink vase ,Scottish ? - ID = Probably Nazeing
« on: May 18, 2022, 01:29:39 PM »
Hi,when I saw this piece of glass my first thought it was Caithness ,but on closer inspection it seems a bit more freely made .It has a rough broken pontil and good wear on the spots it sit on..it has a lot of small bubbles and the glass seems greyish at the base .Probably a fairly easy one to identify , but it’s not my area ,any thoughts ,thanks .

It looks more Nazeing than Scottish, to me.

Pretty sure there is a large vase in this colour combo in my local flea market, when I first spotted it I thought maybe Stevens & Williams but after picking it up realised Nazeing was a much better bet. Typical wishful thinking! If it is still there will get a photo.

My input would be Elwell stable. The confirmed type of Nazeing that this might get confused with is here https://www.ysartglass.com/Otherglass/Nazeing1.htm

See also this and other pages in section https://www.ysartglass.com/Otherglass/Nazeing/NazeingG05.htm

So much for memory, not sure they quite the same and not a large vase but a wide bowl!
