Topic: Citrine? Heavy Square Block Vase!! Possibly an Inkwell??

This is an odd piece of heavy glass in a yellow shade of glass all
edges well polished to give an almost Murano Glass feel in my
opinion. The top aperture may have had a metal lid possibly
for an inkwell but i can't remember seeing an inkwell like this
in the past. The base has a good amount of wear from movement.
Would anyone like to hazard a guess on it??? 3 1/2" square all round.

I'm guessing the hole in the top is less than 2cm. so it might be an oil lamp which would have had a brass lid with a wick going into the reservoir of oil. The only ones I've seen are by Egermann but they are all round.

Appreciate both replies the aperture is 2.7 cm internal and 4 cm external and has been
faceted inside and outside i may be thinking this might not be how it would have been
done if it were to be for something in it but that maybe wishful thinking  Must admit
though it seems almost to good for a piece of Utilitarian glass well made and heavy too.
Think its destined for the unk0nown box at some point but looks great on the window.

Looks like an inkwell without the metal cover to me. These often appear without their tops.

if i can find a cap to put it back into use would look the biz
on a Business mans desk.

Inkwell is much more likely than lighter, as they just have holes, no neck
