Loetz Ausfuehrung 216 variant?
« on: July 22, 2022, 03:55:12 PM »
A recent purchase: nice purple iridescent vase with silvery drip (or tadpole) decor.
13.5 cm high, polished pontil mark, applied rim.

The "tadpoles" seem to have remnants of gold paint to the sides.

To me it looks like the last pic on the loetz.com site for the Ausfuehrung 216 (labelled "variant", as the finish is quite different to other examples):
https://loetz.com/decors-a-z/ausfuehrungen/ausfuehrung/ausf-216

Any thoughts very much appreciated! :)

Thanks,
Michael

It does look favourite, yours has six tadpoles? There is another shown with no foot as well so no problem there and yours has clear tadpoles like the variant pictured.

I would be confident, a shape match too would be icing on the cake...

Hi John, thanks a lot :)

Yes, 6 tadpoles...
Regarding shape match: some of the vases shown for Ausfuehrung 220 (from approximately the same year) could be a match for my vase -- a little less angular, though: https://loetz.com/decors-a-z/ausfuehrungen/ausfuehrungen-enter-here/ausf-220

Ausfuehrung 140 vase, shape looks right with a much shorter neck:

Yes, thanks!

I found a pic of a "Ausfuehrung 166" vase which seems to have an almost identical shape to mine:

There you have it, looks spot on to me, especially the geometry of the neck.

This variant looks a bit like it may have been a bit of a crossover with Ausfuehrung 217:

True - my vase is a little in between those two patterns. :)
The purple colour with matte iridescent finish is different to both, though.
