Topic: Unusual Half Post? Scandinavian Glass vase Any ideas on this one???

Found this piece recently its a heavy lump with lots of unusual color on the sides
and as stated above i think it maybe known as half post method for applying of the
rim to the main body of the vase. The base has a really well polished pontil scar and
a well formed rim would love to find out any information on the piece thanks for looking
measures 3 1/4" all round

I find the term "half-post" to be really confusing. We have had long discussions about this years ago. The descirption "half-post" came from an early bottlemaking term.
I have been trying to replace it with "partially cased" which does for all other items as well.

My first thoughts on this - before I enlarged it, that it might be Benny Motzfeldt for Randsfjord.
But the colours of the bottom part are wrong and it's not a diamond shaped inkwell.
And I'm not sure if she put rims on.

I've got the book on her, I'll have a check for you and see if this is one of her designs.

It could be an Isle of Wight piece, a scarce range called Fondant, there are a couple of threads here on the GMB.

I knew the decor looked terribly familiar. I haven't seen Fondant in this sort of inkwell shape before - just on globe vases. It was the shape took me to Norway.
The I go to the thread you've linked to and see I have seen it before. It was only the round ones that stuck
What would I do without you, to keep me on track?

  Wonderfull i admit to having a thought of Iow When i first saw it but
not having a flame and the unusual top made me discount it to soon really.
The knowledge base here is amazing and its always good to jog the memory
with old pieces too  I over the moon at it being such a short lived design
although maybe it was not to popular at the time of production

I love having friends to discuss things with who can put me right when I make mistakes - or confirm that I did actually get it right. Team-work.
