Festive Quiz - 1
« on: December 23, 2022, 01:19:29 AM »
Who made me?

The rim is white trailed glass.  The prunts and decoration are opalescent glass.

No idea why pic is showing sideways but if you click on it and enlarge it's fine.

Clueless here but the three part symmetry reminded me of this beastie, somewhat tenuous admittedly!

The vase was made at H. G. Richardson and is from their 'Firestone' range. It was launched in 1905 and a photograph showing two pieces in the Pottery Gazette of July 1905 can be seen on page 122 of British Glass 1800-1914, Charles Hajdamach.

My vase is the only one I've ever seen in the whole time I've been collecting apart from a large squat shaped vase in the Broadfield House collection:
https://www.blackcountryhistory.org/collections/getrecord/DMUSE_BH2141
See also colour plate 12 page 108 of British Glass

Both mine and the Broadfield House shape are different to the two shapes seen in the Pottery Gazette so there must have been a range of shapes in the same decor.
