Selkirk Glass identification help?
« on: July 22, 2023, 07:57:50 PM »
This came with some Caithness paperweights, but it isn't. The writing on the base reads "Selkirk Glass Scotland XXXXXX 104/350 1982". The word between Scotland and 104 is very hard to read and I can't find a picture of this online. Does anyone have a Selkirk catalogue or know the edition name, please?

I think it says "Midas", there is one online on Worthpoint but I can't do a link to it for some reason.

Thanks for that. It looks like it is Midas, but I haven't been able to find any more details about it.

Yes - Midas. There is a fairly comprehensive set of illustrated Selkirk catalogues available (for free) on the Facebook Group 'Paperweight Heaven'.

Thanks for the help. I'll probably have to sell this one because my cabinet is absolutely full, but it is a lovely piece of glass. I can't get onto facebook at the moment, or I'd be busy there.

There was one other piece that came with it that I haven't identified which is unsigned, so if anyone can place this one, please let me know. It came in a group with the Caithness I bought it for, some knockoffs, the Selkirk, and one Murano which went to a friend, so it could be anything.

That one looks like contemporary Chinese gift shop stuff.
I was sure the brand name was Crown Crystal, but that's an Australian company.  ???
