Seeking Help for Iridescent Vase. TIA
« on: August 08, 2023, 03:53:13 AM »
Hello!

This is my first post so please forgive any formatting errors or missing information. I found a glass vase that is signed and I would love your help identifying it's origins. Thank you in advance!

Signature:
Appears to read "glatta" or perhaps "slatta" (see photos)

Size:
6" round with 2" lip on top

Bottom:
There appears to be a + or clover pontil mark (see photos)

Design:
Iridescent with a sort of reed motif (see photos)

It's a lovely studio glass piece and distinctive so hopefully someone will recognise it. Signing on the side as opposed to the base is something done by American glass artists so very likely from the US.

Check out Aaron Slater. Looks to be a match to his signature.

:) What you describe as a + or clover mark at the pontil scar is the mark left by a 4 pronged iron which was used during the making. This is not the most common kind of iron in use.
