Do you know where did the name "nappies" for small bowls came from, Glen? I thought it must have been a US term, and was amazed to find them in the 30s catalogues because we use 'nappies' as in the UK (and we never say 'diapers') :)  My grandmother calls the smaller bowls in the salad sets 'sweets bowls', so I don't think 'nappy' ever made it into the general parlance, for the obvious reasons.  :D I've got so used to it now I don't do the double-take!
