Do you know where did the name "nappies" for small bowls came from, Glen? I thought it must have been a US term, and was amazed to find them in the 30s catalogues because we use 'nappies' as in the UK (and we never say 'diapers')

My grandmother calls the smaller bowls in the salad sets 'sweets bowls', so I don't think 'nappy' ever made it into the general parlance, for the obvious reasons.

I've got so used to it now I don't do the double-take!
