Topic: Lauscha lamp work lantern with drunken man in uranium

A bit of a risky blind buy, but it looked fun and worth the risk. Arrived in a soft box with little packing. Opened the packing extremely carefully and smiled as soon as I shone my torch on it. With some help,I think this is made by Lauscha Germany 1920’s. There are some similar on eBay in Germany in normal colours . I can’t find any similar in uranium and wondered if anyone has any good resources for this style of glass, thanks.

Possibly a spanner in the works and it's a very long time since I was researching some lampwork figures but I wonder if Jaroslav Brychta made some figures like this.  I could be completely wrong and unfortunately I cannot for the life of me remember where the catalogues are to have a look - so sorry.

Thanks M no need to be sorry as the reason I’m sharing is to learn more on lampwork, I found this on eBay with a similar lantern but obviously different figure

I do see more similarities though with Jaroslav Brychta so that’s a whole new direction for me. Until recently I new nothing on lampwork glass I thought Pirelli was tyre manufacturer😃rather than a glass maker. Thanks Mike

Honestly I can't see any similarities between the figure you point out on ebay and yours, apart from the design idea of making a lamppost with a man underneath it.


Is yours heavy for size or extremely light lampwork?  Just curious to know.

Yours also has opalescent buttons up his jacket.  Perhaps an opalescent right hand?

I've found a link to one of the catalogues I was thinking of for Zelezny Brod Sklo but couldn't see it in that one.  Link here as it will show you some of the range of different figurine items and the differences in how they were made.

He is extremely lightweight.
I can see similarities with some of the archers and slim figures. I think mine is a bit more crude than those.

They are hard to photograph but it would be nice to see a close up of the face/head, and  from the side perhaps if you can manage a good shot.  Nice to see the detail.  Thank you.
