Uranium Glass Goblet
« on: October 19, 2024, 07:42:47 PM »
Yet another goblet which may be difficult to identify however I did find this No.2284 by Baccarat in the 1841 LH catalogue. Although not totally the same the main part of the bowl does appears to be the same. The bottom part of the bowl, stem and foot are different. It is described as a "gobelet conique a calot" and the pattern as "a cotes plates et diam. etoile" or conical goblet like a wedge with flat sides and diamond? stars. The foot has been ground flat.

As with the other ones I've posted it could be by one of several European companies.

Yeah I noticed that one on ebay and couldn't work out who made it. The pattern of repeating vertical bands of plain and stars is seen with multiple UK makers in the mid 19th century, but doesn't match with that particular goblet.

My thoughts are it's most likely French/European. Although there are the 1840's Launay Hautin catalogues I can't find anything between then and the 1870's by which time styles had changed greatly, there may be many designs that we are not aware of.

It's not easy to see but this No.2 might be a possibility, diamond pattern, colour "dychroide jaune"/ bicolour yellow. I'll try to find a better image.
