I acquired these two vases yesterday. They are lovely pieces and I would love to know more about them and who made them.

One has a paper label on the base indicating that it is likely to have been purchased from a Romanian Art Gallery - Galeriile de Arta Ale Uniunii Artistilor Plastici (Art Galleries of the Union of Plastic Artists according to Google Translate), presumably from an exhibition.

There is a second label overlaying the first with a hand written signature, presumably that of the maker of the vase. I have seen the same label on different artworks with different names and signatures written in, but not found another one on a piece of glass yet.

Can anyone help with identifying who the maker is please and provide any further information?

I am assuming that the second vase was made by the same person, there is no label on this one but it is similar in shame and form.

The multicoloured vase with the label is around 19.5cm tall, the base is 6.5 x 7cm. Both are frosted.

More pictures available if required.

Thank you in anticipation.

It could look vaguely like Topescu for Mihai Topescu  which is often difficult to decipher:

however not many come up in the same matt technique as yours.

The only other artists I know are Ioan Nemtoi and Dan Bancila but neither fit.

Thank you for that,  defiinately looks like a possibility, lots of similarities and of course will always be more detailed on paper rather than engraved on glass. I had come across his name on a search of Romanian glass artists but the examples that came up were a world away from these vases, however, having now searched further I feel it is worth pursuing.

I have messaged him for confirmation (or not), fingers crossed!

Thanks again  :)

Not Mihai Topescu, I have had a reply from him stating that they are not his.

The quest goes on

Quite often the Romanians seem to sign on the side. I expect you’ve had a look but it’s not always easy to see.

Yes not a gallery but an exhibition I think.  And it's possible they are annual.
I've tried to find the matching graphic on the label but not spotted the year so far.
Each year seems to have a different graphic.

Thank you, I had not thought of that. I will try and do some research myself as well.
