Georgian/Regency Amber Gin Glass
« on: November 27, 2024, 03:05:40 PM »
I believe this to be a Georgian/Regency gin glass, there is a similar one in this group:

There isn't a date given for each individual glass but I think it's probably Regency. Mine has a crude, thick foot with striations and a rough snapped pontil. The bowl is well made, has striations and a distinct dome in the bottom. The decoration is, I think, partly engraved and partly etched. Height is 4".

I think this might be bohemian c1860. Possibly related to this glass and decanters with similar decoration: https://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,69594.0.html

i am inclined to think 1860 is the earliest dating - certainly not georgian - and could see it a decade or two later and bohemian as well.

Thanks Ekimp and tonyatl, it came in a job lot with some Bohemian and other glass. Looking closely in the right light I can see the staining/flashing mentioned in the previous post.
