Crackle glass flower vase ?
« on: April 15, 2025, 09:23:55 AM »
Hi , this vase is 25cm in height with an icy windscreen type decoration that could be a fine crackle . It has a subtle three colour mottle effect going on (best seen in the base pic)and has wear on the base that could hint at some age ?Any thoughts ?.Ta

I should have added that there are tooling marks on the body and the worked rim.

I had a few similar bits a while back with a very fine crackle like that, a carafe with glasses and a couple of different bottle I think it was. Nice quality and well made but I did not track down the maker, at the time found a few similar and assumed they were modern, fairly high end home ware.

Interesting thanks John. The age of it has me a bit confused , the wear could be from a hard working life, also the rim looks a bit of a retro design , but I really can’t pin down either .

That crackle really reminds me of Karcag glass - Hungarian.  I does look like the technique they used.

However not sure about the shape - specifically the rim because most of their designs are actually quite contemporary and funky and that rim doesn't sit in well with the body of their work.  But ... you never know :)

I think you have it there m, that super fine silvery crackle they use is distinctive, very much matches the pieces I had although I have not found the exact shapes yet.
