Are these pieces both Davidson's Chippendale?
glassaddict:
Hi all,
I want to list these 2 pieces on Ebay and would appreciate it if someone could confirm that they are both Chippendale by Davidson.

The jug is approx 18cms high at the highest point with a base 12cm in diameter.

Many thanks
Hil.
Anne:
Hil, I'm not convinced the jug is Chippendale - the handle doesn't look quite right and the jug appears to flare out slightly towards the base... the ones I've seen are dead straight, with a narrower handle, and more pronounced curves around the top edge. What's the base pattern like? Can you do a picture looking down into each piece please? Is the bowl round or oval - I know you gave sizes but they included the handles and the catalogue gives sizes excluding handles.
glassaddict:
Hi Anne,
Thank you for your comments and time once again.
The bowl is oval

Thank you

Anne:
Thanks Hil. I'd say the bowl is Chippendale but I'm still undecided about the jug. The bowl looks like Bowl 95 - Oval Footed Bowl - size 9" x 6" (as per Davidson's Chippendale catalogue from the 1930's.)
ChrisStewart:
Hi All,
I do not think either are Chippendale. The giveaway is the star base. Chippendale has a star in which the rays are of uneven length. I don't think the jug is a Davidson 283 jug either - The 283 is very similar to a chippendale jug, but with a star base in which the rays are of the same length.
There were many many companies who made chippendale look alikes.
Regards
Chris
