Are these pieces both Davidson's Chippendale?
pamela:
Hi all,
regarding my collection, I gave up years ago with this pattern
You find it from all over the world.
Thank you, Chris, for another valued hint regarding the star base.
I do also remember Cheri here with a tray...
and please: NEVER do believe what I might have attributed on my sites - I must admit that it is mostly always similarity  :?
Thank you for your understanding :)

--- Quote from: "ChrisStewart" ---Hi All,
I do not think either are Chippendale. The giveaway is the star base. Chippendale has a star in which the rays are of uneven length. I don't think the jug is a Davidson 283 jug either - The 283 is very similar to a chippendale jug, but with a star base in which the rays are of the same length.
There were many many companies who made chippendale look alikes.
Regards
Chris

Chris, In the Davidson catalogue from the 1930's where the 90 and 95 dishes are shown they seem to have a star base with even-length rays, not the more usual uneven length ones. Unfortunately the catalogue gives a slanted side view not a top view so it's not certain, but the rays are visible to the edge of the base which in the variable length ones they do not seem to be. My copy of this catalogue is a copy of a copy so, of course, may be losing something in the process.
Incidentally, in the Chippendale from Central Glass Works catalogue there are pieces with both types of star base.
ChrisStewart:
Hi Anne.
Like you my copy is not very good so I cannot tell what shape the star is. I would say all the examples of Davidson Chippendale I know of have the star base with an uneven length. Davidson's Chippendale jug (Cat No. 408 and 409) also has a star with different length rays.
Regards
Chris
Anne:
Thanks Chris, I really must get all mine out of the cupboard again and double-check the star bases. I know some of it is marked KrysTol and some marked US and the rest is unmarked, so a real mixed bag!
