Author Topic: Amethyst trumpet vase full of bubbles (Read 1754 times)

I picked up this nice vase today. First glass I've bought in weeks! Anyway it is fractionally over 6,5" tall and 7.25" across the top. It is full of a riot of uncontrolled bubbles. Fire polished rim and a good weight with base wear. The bottom has a ground and polished pontil in the middle of some concentric rings. I have no idea who may have made it. Can anyone help. hi, i think it might be biot because of the size and shape of the bubbles also the colour, hope this helps

Pat â€” I am fairly certain that it is John Walsh Walsh, from their Pompeian range of bubbly glass, launched c 1930. See Reynolds pl. 20 (i) for a cased ruby version of the same vase. Walsh pattern number A4947. All the examples of this pattern I have seen have been marked WALSH ENGLAND somewhere on the base.

Thanks Bernard. It is cased. It definitely is not marked. I can't look at Reynolds because I don't have it. So I am going to do some serious googling instead.

I've looked at Biot and I think the bubbles are not right for that. So still investigating the Walsh avenue.

I was wondering if the bubbles were't a bit big for Walsh Pompeian
