People decanter Erik Höglund?
« on: October 16, 2006, 05:03:03 PM »
Could somebody confirm that this is a decanter of Erik Höglund and tell me something more about it? Unfortunalety, I cannot remove the raffia to see if there is a kind of mark or signature at the bottom. Height is 25 cm (9.8").

Thank you & regards,
Sita

It looks to have a plastic stopper. Italian knock-off gets my vote.

Definitely NOT Erik Hoglund for Boda..I think these were made in Japan in the early 70's...

Ok, thank you for your clear explanation. On a Swedish site I have found a similar one (without raffia):

Are these Erik Höglund because they don't have a plastic stopper?

Sita

Neither of the items on that website are Boda. A "real" Boda decanter looks like this:

I think glasshound is correct to point to inaccuracies on this site.
Vizner did not work for Exbor, thus the expectation for a pressed glass vase from VHJ Obal/Sklo Union is unrealistic, in the extreme. Exbor is synonymous with very high quality hand-worked art glass.

Hi Blair,
I was intrigued, as you had pointed up that the Boda pieces that Sita had mentioned, at that site, were wrong. I visited the same site, and found that the Vizner eyebath vase was attributed to Exbor, so I was merely pointing up the need to check attributions on that site. :D

Marcus

Ahhhhhhh...i see your point  8) ....I notice that this site does have a couple of "real" Boda decanters. It's interesting how they mix the cheap repros with the real thing...
