Fiesta Glass Souvenir Plate & Bullfinch plate

<< < (2/3) > >>

Anne:
Anne, It's interesting to see the box design on the Cornwall plate too... I've not seen that pattern box before. My only Fiesta box is a boring brown one!

Anne E.B.:
Hi Anne 8)   Souvenir plates ready gift-wrapped I suppose  .  The Grantleigh 2-tier comport featured earlier, has some attempt at decoration on the box, but not very exciting.  This souvenir plate, with its bar code on the box might date from the 1970s when bar codes were first introduced.  I just wonder if this is the sort of thing that might have been found on sale in Woolworths?  I've checked their online museum though,  without success.

David - a couple more views of the Bullfinch which might be clearer.

David E:
Anne, thanks for the extra photos. For the seriesware dishes I only need to show the pattern, so that's great.

The box has to be post-1981, when Fiesta Glass took over Fiestaware production. I suspect it could be later judging from the design, but have no evidence for this - just a feeling. Being a smaller company (about 30 employed), Fiesta Glass might not have introduced barcodes until much later (1990s?) but nowadays they are almost mandatory.

glassaddict:
Today I saw two round plates with baby blue backgrounds and a nuthatch on one and kingfisher on the other, in black only (almost like pencil drawings - it looked like Chance/Fiesta and I assumed they were part of the bird seriesware - but now I have looked at this thread I can see they are not.

Problem?  I didn't buy them!!! so I cant post a photo!!

David E:
Hil, it doesn't sound like Chance - coloured backgrounds were not their forté and most of their animal/bird pictorial dishes were full colour transfers. Could be Houze, Webb, Spiegelunion, Flamingo... :-\
