McConnell also has the screen-printed tumblers priced at £5-10 - I wish! Unless that's per set, which would be more realistic in my experience.

Why-oh-why-oh-why did I write that? Since then, I've been jinxed - outbid three times on sets fetching up to £22... >:(

Blips like this always seem to occur immediately after a book is published, particularly the DK and Miller's 'Collectables'.

But the prices should never be taken as read. Trends and market forces make such a difference it's impossible to forecast accurately.

No, Anne, no picture of Solar, just the brief reference I quoted from C20th Factory Glass.
Does Barry have a camera?  ;)

Heidi, I've managed to get camera and bowl into same physical space!  This is the one I wondered about being Solar?

Nice design. It certainly fits the description, doesn't it?

BTW, would it be worth moving this thread to one of the other forums? There's quite a lot of info here that it might be useful to refer back to.

Good idea of Heidi's to suggest moving this as there is a lot of useful info coming into this thread.

Perhaps a definitely ID'd picture or piece of Solar will turn up sometime Heidi. Meanwhile, I'll leave my bowl pics in GlassGallery as a cross-reference.

I can now confirm (with a somewhat red-face!) that my mystery bowl suggested as Solar is indeed Solar! And how do I know? Because I found I have a reference pic saved from a long-gone sale of a set of Solar tumblers in a box which are clearly the same pattern as my bowl... doh!

Just to link the name and the pattern, this is Solar....

Just spotted another Ravenhead pattern I've not seen before... it's called Iceberg... and there's an 18 piece boxed set on eBay

Found yesterday a set of 6 large Apollo glasses for the sum of £1.50 - happy I am. :) I may lose them to my son though, as they are practically impossible to knock over.

Nic, did you ever manage to copy the list of sizes for this range off your box please?

I've photographed all of my Ravenhead bits and bobs, I'll upload 'em here for posterity.  ;D

Apollo:
Apollo Range
Apollo Box
14cl Apollo. H = 75mm, D = 60mm

Tubbies:
Tubbies Range
Tubbies Box
8oz Tubbies Storage Jars. H = 75mm (with cork) / 65mm (without), D = 90mm

Siesta:
Siesta Range
Early 26cl Siesta Box (Patent Pending)
Later 26cl Siesta Box
26cl Siesta. H = 75mm, D = 75mm
14cl Siesta. H = 85mm, D = 65mm

(The box for the 14cl Siesta is identical to the later 26cl Siesta, just scaled differently)

Thanks Nic, that's brilliant. Mine are the largest Apollo's - 34cl, or half a bottle of cider!  >:D
