Mould blown, as expected for Anchor Hocking.  :)

I can't find an example of the exact shape of your posy, but I did find a bit with a label.
This tells us the official name of the colour is Royal Ruby.
They are an old and well established maker.

Hi Sue,
Sorry to have taken so long to reply.
Have enclosed a photo of the base - not sure if it is a polished pontil mark (not well up on this) if so, does that suggest a different maker?
Many thanks,
Marie.

Your photograph of the full inside pattern looks remarkably like the Reijmyre version (1897 page 60 no 2500) as quoted on the info on the link you gave earlier:

https://www.glas-musterbuch.de/Reijmyre-1897.165+B6YmFja1BJRD0xNjUmcHJvZHVjdElEPTY5MjgmcGlkX3Byb2R1Y3Q9MTY1JmRldGFpbD0_.0.html

However I couldn't spot any other of the footed bowls with a similar construction and the foot on their footed bowls looks different to yours.

That just looks like H V to me.  No 'and' or '&' or 'E' in the middle - though there might be a small circle?
Very interesting piece.

Thanks for the tip. At least its something, where before I had nothing. The H and V are literally the font I am using now, the & is an assumption on my part it could very well be something else, All somewhat soft and faint I think from fire-polishing.
The possibility that it is an earlier piece did cross my mind. The fact that the small pontil on the base left rough, the overfill on the rim and even the nice applied and shaped ring on the stem does not bring to mind French work c.1840.   another pos of the mark:

Hi,
1790 - 1810 seems about right maybe. I do think it should have a lid because of the bowl thickness.
Nice find even though it's had a hard life,
Keith

Another year has gone by and the pot plants have made there way outside.
Some new bits of glass up on the shelf.
Nice to have some sunshine on the glass it brings out the colours.

Glass / Re: American glass artist, signed "Bar"? Who is/was this?
« Last post by kwqd on May 20, 2024, 01:54:43 PM »
I suspect a small studio maker.  Not necessarily from the USA as they normally sign at the base of the sides.

Ross

Thanks for your comments, Ross. I have a large American studio glass collection, so I checked through it and found most were signed on the bottom, by a factor of almost exactly two to one. I was surprised to find so many signed on the side, though.  I have quite a few unidentified signed pieces, signed both ways.

I agree that it is probably a small studio maker, wherever it was made.

Hi, forgot to measure my bowl but it's smaller. Will have to measure it. Have looked at quite a few of these but not found a match for the shape. Still you could be right on the designer.
Thanks for your help,
Keith
