Hello, looking for help IDing this vase or any information on era would be great too. It's 19cm tall and is marked 1/163 on base. Thank you :)
-
https://www.loetz.com/ Try this link for starters, I have a vase with a similar mark which started a debate as to whether it was Loetz or Riedel or another maker. It is almost certainly Bohemian, probably around 1900.
-
;) I suspect it might well glow in the dark.
Have you tested it with a UV torch yet?
-
That's interesting Sue - hadn't thought it might glow. Unfortunately I don't own a UV light :-[ I should invest!
NevB thank you for this info and link! Will have a good look through :)
-
I'm about 100% sure it will glow. :)
A UV torch is a really useful thing, and they can be found very cheaply on certain auction sites.
-
I feel like I have to know now :) - I've ordered one ;D Will report back!
-
I meant to ask that Sue, as I've mentioned before Roobarb, it's often best to shine the torch inside the vase to get the best effect.

Team-work, Nev. ;D

Can you provide a link to the debate?
And Roobarb, can you get a close up photo of the base markings?
-
Sorry KevinH the debate was on one of my postings on Collectors Weekly and it doesn't seem to have a URL. I have lots of posts under uranium glass on there so it should be possible to find it on my profile. You are welcome to link it if you are able to.

So I've done my first UV Torch Test...and it did glow!!! ;D
Attached a picture and and close up of the markings :)

It's good to see it glows. Here is a link to my vase with a similar mark, the numbers and the little mark after them look very similar.

Yay! Now you can have fun pointing your torch at everything else, to see what happens. ;D
-
Thanks for the recommendation Sue ;D Already found a few more that glow! Exciting!
They do look really similar NevB, it's the same colour ink too!
-
This might be a Harrach mark
-
Looking at Harrach marks quickly online it definitely bears a strong similarity, thanks Lustrousstone!
