Managed to get the Macro out - so here are some detail shots of this rather strange decoration technique for further puzzlement and contemplation.

Perhaps the bubbles are *just* a side effect of that colour which has been used for the outlines.
I must admit they look quite regular for an uncontrolled process though...

They do look like Benny Motzfelt-style bubbles with the colour inclusion (not Nazeing-style ones).

my face box for comparison, the eye bubble is done in a similar way I think?

I recently acquired a new huge cobra vase in a different decor - this has gold and silver leaf on it and is again exquisitely made.  It actually looks like silk material instead of glass.
It's hand signed on the base 'Vera Walther' and 'HD' initials in script whereas my pink one is signed with his full name and 85 date.
