Sklo Union Collectors--- Your assistance please.
« on: May 21, 2007, 07:46:54 AM »
Hi,
Please would Sklo Union collectors let me know, if they have clearly identified items which bear factory labels, (ie other than the Glassexport "Bohemia Glass" labels) from the following factories:
Hermanova Hut'
Libochovice (not the blue "Libs" label)
Rosice.
Thanks in advance,
Regards,
Marcus

I'm afraid I have none that will be of interest, apart from the Bohemia labels.

I imagine they are not that common though?

Hi David,
Like most glass the labels disappear eventually.
I am trying to clarify whether individual production units did use labels, at any time, before and after 1958 when most units were incorporated into VHJ Obal, then Sklo Union. Clearly Rudolfova Hut' did so until 1958. These are seen fairly often, alongside the Glassexport Bohemia Glass label.
At the moment I have not found any evidence that other units did.
I am also interested in seeing whether any pressed glass items made in the Slovak factories appeared with Bohemia labels, before (but not after) 1965.
Thanks again,
regards,
Marcus

I'm afraid none of my pieces have labels Marcus - other than the Bohemia glass ones you mentioned.  If I do come across any you can rest assured I'll let you know.

Thanks to all of you,
Mark,  I know you have been busy, so your examination of your collection is appreciated.
If folks feel we may be wasting your time, let me assure you, one word in one conversation, can mean we have knowledge, or perhaps someone will be searching for another 20 years.
Thanks for your input.
Regards,
Marcus
