Vases of Unknown Origin
« on: May 28, 2007, 02:09:38 AM »
Hello!  Would anyone be able to provide me ANY information on a pair of vases?  A shop is selling these vases, and I was interested in purchasing them for resale (if the price is right).  They have been in the shop for quite a long time, and the owner is wanting to move them.  I was given permission by the shop to take these pictures, because the owner does not know anything about them.  I thought they might be a form of peachblow, and she thought they were New England glass.  From what I found about New England peachblow (if these are, indeed, peachblow), these vases would not fit the description, because they are lined with white glass.  Anyway, the vases are about 10 inches tall (if forgot to measure them).  The color of the tops look a little amber in the pics, but I think they were more "peachy" in color in person.  They definitely aren't the rose or pink color I thought peachblow glass to be.  The applied handles and crest are of an amber color.  The pontil is rough--not ground.  The outside of the glass is a matte finish.

I am very interested in learning the maker, age, name, and value of this pair of art glass vases.  Any help anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated!
