Heavy Red Cased Vase
« on: March 02, 2008, 02:50:57 AM »
I bought a heavy red cased vase last week at a Royal Doulton stall at a antique fair. This was the only piece of glassware at their stall so they sold it cheap on the last day. It is very pretty and big 40cm(16 inches) height, base dia 13cm(5 inches).
I have checked all my ref books and came up blank. Anybody got any information? Thanks.

I have a couple, one green one red, both 11-in (28cm) tall.

I posted a query about them some time ago. The feeling was that it may be Czech, but this was unconfirmed. I'll see if I can dig out the old thread.

All I can tell you is I probably would have bought it too, and then I would never figure out who made it.  ;) It reminds me of this one I have (obvious differences, but some similarities):

Possibly from the same maker: there are certain features that are similar. If Marcus stumbles by this way, he might have more information on these vases, following his trip to the Czech Republic.
