Orange/amber crackle decanter to ID please.
« on: March 08, 2008, 08:37:35 PM »
Can anyone help me ID this decanter? My photographs don't do it justice, there is a clear yellow band at the shoulder  (in most lights) . It has a snapped off pontil mark with no polishing or grinding. The whole thing is 24cm high including stopper.

Thanks, David

David,
this looks possibly 1960s Blenko, American, they did crackle glass and similar colours,
might be worth googling about a bit. Stoppers unusual, may help someone.
Another possibility, mainland Italy

Good luck,
Andy

Thanks Andy,
That was my only thought that it could possibly be Blenko when i bought it. However, I've only seen pictures so have no real idea. I thought Amberina Crackle seems to be the nearest- but as you say I couldnt match the stopper to anything Blenko.
Cheers, David

The stopper made me think of Erik Høglund, but that could be waaay off.

I see what you mean!
I must have looked through hundeds of Blenko pics, no sign of a similar stopper. Perhaps it is an Italian version.
