not Loetz vase
« on: August 19, 2008, 12:49:27 PM »
What do you make of this little vase?  about 4 ins tall, wrythen
moulding very even, well polished pontil.

It was sold in with some other stuff, lotted as Loetz style (as is
usual) but it absolutely doesn't look at all Loetz to me.  Christine described it as "brash" and I think that says it all.

Has anyone seen anything similar with an attribution?

Hi Lynne,
looks familiar, have a look on
http://www.great-glass.co.uk/library/lib2ad.htm
number 6336, attributed to a Webbs iridescent green-bodied vase c 1890s

they look pretty similar, if , of course, great-glass has it right.

Cheers
Andy

Hi Andy, that one looks to be trailed to me, this is just moulded. But it would be nice wouldn't it   :)

Thank you very much!

Wasn't me miss! I quite like it. I'll go for my usual - Bohemian. Probably period "pseudo" Loetz/Kralik much like mine here http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,16539.0.html.

It could just as easily be a piece similar to these:

Note that Carl Stölzle und Sohne is identified as a maker for several of Gastone's pieces.

It looks very much like the Kralik piece (11th row down, far left) on the site that Marcus posted. (which I am definitely bookmarking, by the way)

Thanks, Marcus!
