Topic: J Glass is it not?

I would have thought this weight was J Glass, given the cane and design.

Nice to see an old original Jay Glass weight,one of the first range if I remember correctly. Most of the flowers were made in my kitchen using a butane canister plumbers torch and the cooker grill as an annealing plate way back in late 1978 early 79...Allan

Very interesting that Allan.  Canyou give me (us?) some pointers as to what makes it an early weight?  And if you don't mind, when is this one from?

and if you have the selmans book all about paperweights on page 42 they are the J glass lampworked flowers sat on cotton wool

An early Jay Glass weight had quite thick basic lampwork because of the equipment I was using,it was not possible to get the flame to a needle size.The weights from the first two launches were all small (1.5 - 2 inches diameter,The one pictured above also is from the 1978/79 era..Allan

Thanks Allan, you've made my night to think it was made in a Kitchen by yourself   I paid £16 about 2 years on ebay, it has a strange chip on the base, not on the edge, almost in the middle, but it's just such a beauty.
