If good quality crystal and bottom polished, think Val St.Lambert.

Thank you Ivo. Was all Val St. Lambert signed? This piece is not signed as far as I can see.

no, not normally signed. Quality looks consistent, not sure about the specific model, though...

Thank you Janice,
Whilst the 'Deco' pattern by Mikasa is similar as you pointed out - I have searched the web and can find no double candelabra such as this and the bottom half of their 'deco' patterned pieces seems to be very different from this one. Thanks for the lead -much appreciated.  I am still looking at Ivo's suggestion 'maybe VSL'

Thanks, Hil :)

Another thought might be Nachtmann - I have some nice candleholders by them...
http://webcatalog.studio-winter.de/Nachtmann/ProductCatalog/vcat_online_nm_eng.html might be worth a check.

Brilliant!   Mine was a present from my sis-in-law who knew nothing about it and just bought it because she liked it.   At least we have a place of origin now.

Many thanks,
Hil :)
