An ashtray by any CHANCE??
« on: July 31, 2009, 07:05:25 PM »
Foregive the pun  -  may well of course been intended for some other use completely.    I thought it might have been Chance Glass, but only guessing, and had also thought that it might have been issued in 1969 to commemorate the centenary of the date shown on the caption.   Any comments much appreciated.   thanks  Paul S.

Possibly, possibly not; there's no real way to tell with many of these commemoratives. Chance wasn't the only manufacturer in the UK

thanks Christine  -  I was half expecting you to say either that it WAS or WASN'T in David's book  -  a copy of which I don't have.    Paul S.

I did have a very quick flick through David's book but didn't see it.  The size might be useful.

There are dozens of these sorts of items. Chance quite happily made short runs, so unless they are confirmed as Chance they haven't made it to the book; it also means very few of them have.
