Borske Sklo knobbly ball, or not?
« on: November 30, 2009, 07:52:36 PM »
Hello again!

Here's a piece that I suspect is a Borske Sklo ball vase, but I'm not sure since it seems that some have a hint of a raised rim (such as mine) while others seem polished flat at the top. Also, mine has a patterned puntil while others don't?

Best Regards
Emil

Thank you both for your time! What is it that differs between this vase and a Borske?

Best Regards
Emil

Hi Paul,
Andy is true.

Glass made in my country
 - berfore 1918 - Bohemian
-  1918 - 1992 - Czechoslovakian
- after 1992 Czech

Even in Czechoslovakia (country of Czech and Slovak nation) was dominant glass producer Czech part of country it would not be fair to speak about country of origin as Czech. In Slovakia worked several excellent glassworks and Slovak designers did participate also on designs.

Jindrich

Hello Jindrich  -  I very much appreciate your explanation, which helps my understanding of Eastern Europe glass information for that period.   thank you.   Paul S.

Hi Emil,

Just found this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280420556210

It has the same base as yours and also has a label.
If I know, I'll comment. If I think I know, I'll have a go. If I have no idea, I'll just keep quiet and learn from others, so the next time I'll know.

Thanks Della!

However, the base on my vase isn't really the same if you take a closer look.

Best regards
Emil
