Smoke coloured banana bowl with carefully polished rim and bottom. Obviously modernistic/ fifties/ sixties - perhaps WF or perhaps Holmegaard?

Hi Ivo,
perhaps a Gangkofner design for Hessenglas? Scrolll down to 20th row ´Überfangschale a canne´ 19,5 x 6,5cm:

The same shape, indeed. But I'm not convinced - the Gangkofner design leans on Italian techniques and bright colours...

Nor am I, but I thought they perhaps also used the Gangkofner shape for cased glass,
which they also produced quite much. See these amethyst pieces (scroll down again):

You could try contacting Oliver Rapp? His email adress should be in the impressum,
otherwise contact Pamela, she´ll be able to help you.  :)

I'll see what I can find out. My dish is in a solid colour though, and not cased.

Anyway, thanks for the link - I just discovered the delightful colour name "Neurot".

Thought it was cased.  ::) I hadn´t noticed the ´Stilblüte´ of ´neurot´ yet, thanks.
As I´ve got three of Gangkofner´s asymmetrical designs already, I´ll be on the look-out
for a neurot-ish pregnant virgin now.

Hi Ivo,

thought I have to register at the message board, since my homepage got quoted here already several times. I´m glad it could help a little yet, even so it will take some more time, until I put up a whole translation.
Nice bowl you have here. Maybe Dirk ist right. This sort of bowls were actually produced by Hesse Glassworks with solid colours "Rauchgrau/smoke", "Flieder", "Neurot" etc. and also with cased colours (violett seems to be the favorite colour now and in the early 60s).

Maybe I can find out, if you send us the size of the bowl.

For future-topics: don´t hesitate to send me a message, if you have any questions about Hessenglas or Kristallglas GmbH in Oberursel. I´ll try to help.

btw. "Neurot" was the "very official" Hessenglas name for this magnificent colour.  But I like "citrinvirgin" as well!  :D

Greetings from Hessen,

Oliver
