Hello
I know this piece I picked up is Simon Gate for Orrefors, but is the engraving done by Vicke Lindstrand.
Cheers in advance.

Lindstrand designed for Orrefors not engraved as far as I know. According to the signature on your vase it was designed by Vicke Lindstrand - denoted by the L, a Simon Gate design would have had an S instead. I think the last set of marks is the engravers.

This is the first piece in the 1932 catelogue - Swedish Glass Factories catalogue - designed by Lindstrand in 1931, and in this case also made in 1931 - engraver is Emil Goldmann

interesting - Christies refers back to the book "Glas in Schweden"
http://www.christies.com/LotFinder/lot_details.aspx?from=searchresults&intObjectID=4269223&sid=1757d00a-e704-4bc3-abe1-d0836a6b67db

this is what the book says (in German) (this is only an extract for ref purposes, which I understand to be permitted under the copyright laws).

anyone able to translate ?

I suspect the form - Simon Gate refers to the blank it's engraved on.

I try my best (sorry for mistakes in my english translation)  :)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
142 vase "harp-playing nök"
marked: OF.L.1048.32 KR

design: Vicke Lindstrand, 1931
shape: Simon Gate, 1930
execution: Karl Rössler, 1932

Clear cristal glass, mouldblown, 4 times vertical optic (...no idea what this means...), slightly twisted blown, wavy rim.
Applied black foot. Cut-decorated (partly *geblänkt?*).
Private collection, Berlin.

Limited number. Typical desing of the thirties using the important vase shape that Simon Gate designed 1930 for the
Stockholm exhibition. From this many shape variants were developed, which, decorated or as form glass, have been
very popular during the 1930ies.

Hope this helps!

Greetings
Michael
