As there doesn't appear to be a makers mark, this is going to be tricky, however, Wedgwood did make glass whales, as well as Dolphins.

The whales had flat noses and although some where marked, equally some were not.

The blue colour looks like Wedgwood, and the way the tail is finished looks right,  my reservation primarily lies in the fact that the flattened nose appears rather small in diameter compared to others I have seen.

There are two of these listed on Thistleblower, so may be worth having a look at those:

There is also one on eBay at the moment:

Avondale Glass Pembrokeshire also made Whales with flattened noses,  but I have only seen them in speckled colours.

Will stay in the case....... :wsh:

I know how annoying it is when there is no makers mark!!

Wedgwood only put gold labels on some of their pieces, and once they had been washed off or removed by fastidious housewives, the piece became unidentifiable!! There are lots of these whales out there that, but for the label, would be impossible to identify.......frustrating!

I will keep looking, but so far it seems to be the only maker I have found that has a flat nose.

Will yours stand up safely on its nose? Most of the Wedgwood ones will.

Thanks.. woah slow down, fastidious housewives comment could get me in trouble with my fastidious other.  In the most politically correct of ways i know what yer mean.

Anyway it does stand on its nose well. At first i thought it may have been a dolphin thats nose was broke and then filed and polished down because of the flatness, then i realised it must be part of the design to give it two ways of being displayed.

Thanks
