Thinly blown vertically ribbed vase
« on: December 17, 2011, 11:46:57 AM »
The kind of glass I know absolutely nothing about, so could be anything and any age...

Delicate, thinly blown vase with internal vertical ribbing, bottle shape, 27 cm high, decorated with a dark green glass hemisphere (which has a copper backing).
Any help in ID very much appreciated!

Michael

Hi Michael, I can't help with the bottle sadly, but the attached green blob looks very much like the sorts of stick on, copper-backed glass beads we use to decorate costumes and jewellery and weapons for the stage. They are sold in many craft shops here, so I suspect it's been stuck on.
Cheers! Anne, da tekniqual wizzerd

I think it is another Grappa bottle, from the Grappa bottle industry in Northern Italy.

Thanks a lot for your contributions, Anne and Ivo!

Decorative Italian Grappa bottle, quite recently produced I guess, sounds like a good attribution :)
