Mdina Trailed Cylinder Vase - Dating..?
« on: March 27, 2012, 12:44:55 PM »

I presume this particular design was a post Harris design...?

In terms of gauging the date, I was thinking mid 70s, looking at the colouring..?

Many Thanks
Greg
 :)

I'd agree. It bears a great deal of resemblance to the cloudy sort of effect Vicente Boffo produced, and the mark is a good early one.
It's rather wonderful!

Thanks for the confirmation, it came with that early blue button top pulled ear I posted yesterday. I think they both previously came from the same home.

I do like the cloudy effect, very similar to an early IoWSG vase I've recently seen somewhere.  ;)

Many thanks

What was?  ???

A tall trailed cylinder: https://picasaweb.google.com/Johnmj100/LaterMdinaGlass#5430029926009352242

Musing on these trailed cylinder vases... the cylinder vase is a shape originally from MH's time and the tall square attenuated bottles were trailed in a similar fashion plus there are the amethyst vases trailed with blue: https://picasaweb.google.com/Johnmj100/LaterMdinaGlass#5625166132701213906

So, all the elements were there, when they were put together for this design is another matter....

John

You ask "What was?" John - we had a brief exchange in the wfs isit thing this-morning, but I wasn't sure it was this Greg, until he commented here!

I'm sure this is an MH design for Mdina - particularly given that he was expanding on Mdina designs at IoWSG, and we ended up with the far too brief "strapped" Aurene range which didn't go into major production,

Ah ha!

I would think it was a MH design too but no hard evidence so far, like an example with his signature.
