Id help request on an old lattice swirl paperweight
« on: June 17, 2013, 01:09:56 PM »
Hi, thanks in advance for any help in identifying this paperweight.  I bought this several years ago included in a large collection.  Most were easily identified signed pieces but several, including this one, have avoided identification to any degree of assurance.

The weight measures approx 3 inches tall, 3 1/2 diameter at the widest. The bottom is completely flat ground. What looks like a depression on the base is just clear.

The ribbon swirls contain a lot of colors as can be easily seen but there is also some subtle ones that don't show up in these images as well, like a couple of lines in some of them of what looks like aventurine but it is very thin, it looks a little like the Milky Way in photos.

I can post more photos of some details if needed, or they can be seen in my photobucket hopefully by following this link:

Thanks again,  Jeff

Hi Jeff

I would go for Murano for this one as well - the pastel colours, adventurine and flat
polished base all point that way. This style often has a large cane slice at the top
where the swirl meets to conceal the join.

Best regards

Derek
