There have been a few on the board before but they don't crop up all that often in this pattern.

Yes, there is some age to it, perhaps '80s.
It is a barrel or egg shaped vase, not an inside-out, which are bowling-ball shaped.

In the early stuff,  it was completely inconsistent about whether or not a piece got marked. They were struggling with staff shortages and trying to keep enough stock on the shelves to sell.

Things only got marked if there was somebody available who had time and the equipment to do it, but mostly, as soon as something was annealed, it went straight out into the shop.

That's why you'll find uncut "Ice-cut" lollipops, inconsistent base finishing or lack of a mark.

Later, when labels were used, marks became an even more unneccessary extra bit of work to be carried out on a piece.

The colour is not amethyst, which is slightly brownish sort of purple and only found in earlier pieces.

This is a deep, almost bluey purple, quite distinctly different.

Red pieces of Mdina with the trails on are a good deal later than these - (or Phoenician, not Mdina at all).

Amethyst, Plum, Purple, Aubergine ;D, just a generalisation on a colour and not an implication that's it's early Stew and Sue.
