Large Murano? fish.
« on: May 26, 2014, 04:28:33 PM »
Hi, I have found this rather nice large and what I think is a Murano fish. It is very well made, 15" tall, weighs 2.2kg and has gold inclusions. I was wondering if anyone could be more specific regarding the maker and the age of this piece. TIA Wolfie

I don't know for sure. Your fish reminds me of the import pieces from Murano of the 1960-70s. I believe it is what yours is. This type glass was imported into the different countries by companies such as JICO and Norleans. I don't think there are any available records for who made the glass. Much of it is very attractive, as is your fish.

I find it a bit of a shame that the makers of these have faded into obscurity. I know that Murano fish are not to everyone's taste but this has been really well made by a skilled hand and its a real pity more is not know about the makers of these quality pieces of glassware.
