And here's another! Again believed by the previous owner to probably be Murano (hmmm). 380mm in height and quite thick 'n heavy. I'm not in any way familiar with this design. Looks a bit suspicious to me (in a Chinese sort of way). Bottom of vase ground flat with a matt finish, and a matt finish ground pontil depression. Spose it could be Polish? It's not very old that's for sure...

Nothing wrong with them for decoration or actually using with flowers.

Thanks for that one John, not identical (I'm grabbing at straws now aren't I?) but certainly too close for comfort. I'm not at all surprised either! When I sell vases I do like to state clearly on the label where they come from and how old they are - and then the selling price can reflect that fact. Wouldn't it be nice to have a GMB 'Chinese vases of our time' gallery? Although I suspect - like China itself - it would need to be quite large.

Huge and matte ground bases, wouldn't be the first time. Hmm yes, must try and remember that one...

Not al huge vases with matte ground bases are Chinese but they merit further assessment rather than believing a seller
