holmegaard Napoli information needed
« on: January 18, 2016, 03:55:09 PM »
Hello,

I am hoping to get a bit more information on a vase I recently acquired.  It measures about 14cm by 14cm.  I have found many examples of the Napoli line online in blue and in white, but never a combination of the two. Help!

It will likely be a variant produced for the factory tour / shop in the 1970s. It's where Holmegaard oddities tend to hail from.

Thank you for your reply!

I found today (while looking in the light) that it is signed at the bottom, "Holmegaard MB" with a number.

Does anyone have any recommendations for appraisal houses or websites?

Then it's an unika piece, made in relatively small quantities for exhibitions/trade shows. It doesn't appear to have been put into full production after.

There should also be two digits on the paper label, and these will tell you when it was made - so '32', for example, would be the third quarter of 1972.

Unfortunately, no one has published the records for Michael Bang's unika pieces, so I couldn't tell you where it was first shown.

Thank you so much for the reply!

One last question-

Does anyone have an estimate of how much it would be worth?

Worth is subjective, and depends on what folks are willing to pay in the marketplace of choice on any given day, so we don't really do values...
