Is this Gulvase or not?
« on: October 06, 2016, 03:27:27 AM »
Hi I just acquired this vase and was wondering if its a gulvase. If not, anyone knows what it could be?

Hi there, looks like the right shape to be a gulvase however it does look a strange colour.
Perhaps its just the lighting? Is it matt black or just dirty?
A few more pictures would really help and measurements also.
Ben

I'll attach more more pics in a few minutes but in the meantime, the vase measures:
11.5'' high
3.25'' necks diameter at its widest
4.25'' bottom diameter

The color is weird. At first I thought it was black but when I put it in the sun, it has a dark green tint to it. Its not matte but its definitely not high gloss either. I've washed it so its clean.

I don't know if it is or is not, but there has been a lot of discussion on the board about variations from other makers I think.
(maybe being made elsewhere and sold in tk maxx in recent years?)

Also, when I was checking mine out I did come across the measurement information for the originals. Maybe on Hardernet.dk here?

Gulvases were made in the uk by a company called Cascade under license, but I think the colours they used might have been restricted.
I have a labelled Cascade clear amber Gulvase, and also a pair of labelled Cascade candleholders in the rings of raised dots pattern from Rihimahen in a kingfisher teal shade.

I have seen black opaque looking Gulvases from India (I think) in TKMaxx recently.
