Mystery glass candlestick (Murano ??)
« on: December 29, 2016, 11:54:07 AM »
Hello everyone.
My first visit here and apologies that I start with a request for help. I will try to assist others where possible.
I have been tearing my hair out with theis item spent over a week researching but no positive answer.

It has a snapped pontil under the base and a tiny amount of wear on the underside of the foot. Its heavy and seems to be a combination of blown/swung an moulded glass.

There are some similarities to Murano (the swirled cup, cup above a ball) but Ive searched all Murano to no avail.  The coupel who gave me the item assures me that it has been on their Mothers dresser for as long as they can remember (they are in their 50s) but that isnt always a good way of dating an item.

Id appreciate any ides or thoughts.
Many thanks
