possible large brown murano shark, can anyone please assist?
« on: January 17, 2017, 07:07:23 PM »
Hi all,

I recently acquired a stunning large brown and clear glass shark which I would greatly appreciate some information on if anyone can help.

Its beautifully detailed and the body has a lovely curve.

The shark  measures 30cm (1 foot) high at the top of the tail fin.

Any information that anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Hi rsinclair, welcome to the GMB.

I have moved your thread to the general Glass forum as this could turn out not to be a Murano piece. I have also corrected the "murano" part of the title so that it will be detected properly in searches.

A good place to start looking is the Murano Zoo: https://sites.google.com/site/muranozoo/

Search through the fish sections, you may also find birds with the same shape base - might help narrow the maker down a bit.

Cheers all for the assistance.

I have already checked that site and unfortunately found nothing.

The closest I have found is on a different blog. There is a similar shark by Formia which appears to have the same shape body and tail but which is on a different base and is of different colouring being clear and white. Apart from that I have had no luck.    ???

Oh and forgot to say in the original post but there is no signature on this piece.

I'm unsure if they are by same maker but the bases are sort of similar

Hi Adam,

Cheers for the pic.

Its definately a similar shape (closer than any base ive found yet) although the texture is quite different.

Its a good avenue for me to look at tonight and see if I can find anything.
