Studio glass bowl.
« on: October 30, 2022, 06:22:04 PM »
Bought this lovely bowl today. The man i bought the bowl from said he bought it in London about 40 years ago and talked about a Professor Hotchkiss ??.
I read the base signature as Malcolm Hotchkiss???, and the date 88 .I tried various combinations on the net , but no result.
It measures 4" high 4" at the base and 7" at the top.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Tim

Maybe Malcolm Hodkinson? There’s a similar query here: http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,56591.msg320804.html#msg320804

Thanks Ekimp for the link to that old message.
I think the answer will be somewhere within the Anthony Stern sphere.
I thought the shape of the unpolished pontil scar was very close to Anthony Stern work.

The overall feeling of the design does suggest some Stern inspiration to me.
Your new piece here seems to tie the one Chris Cooper had in the link you showed togther even better into the Stern school.

I had a wonder about Wilkinson, but the signature on Chris's one seems a bit clearer and less Wilkinsonny.  ;D
