Not stretch, but crackle glass vase.
« on: February 27, 2007, 03:14:35 PM »
Hi all,

Do any of you lovely folks have any information that you could share on this vase?
It is 11 1/2" in height.

:o Click on an image to enlarge  :o

Is it even classed as stretch glass?  :-\

TIA, as always.
If I know, I'll comment. If I think I know, I'll have a go. If I have no idea, I'll just keep quiet and learn from others, so the next time I'll know.

Depends on the quality. If it is well made, rounded rim, smooth glass then it may be Leerdam from the 1930s - there have been a few experimental pieces made in this crackle technique - Lanooy, I think, and usually unsigned.

However if the surface is rough, the top is cut off and ground down you are looking at a Romanian piece circa 1980. I have one in red which really tears the skin off your fingers.

No it is not classed as stretch glass...

Hi Ivo  :D

The vase is, on the whole, incredibly smooth, although there are a couple of places where it is a little rough, but in a tiny spot, not a patch, as it were  :-\  The rim is ground flat, with bevelled edges.

If I know, I'll comment. If I think I know, I'll have a go. If I have no idea, I'll just keep quiet and learn from others, so the next time I'll know.

the rim seems to be of the Romanian kind. But keep the options open, anyway.
