Large Opaline vase how old?
« on: October 01, 2009, 01:20:04 PM »
Hello I bought this large goblet vase today and have taken the pictures prior to cleaning.  Could anyone kindly date this using the label please?  I know the label reads Hand - Opaline Marchio Depositato (trademark) and made in Italy but I dont know wwhat the centre piece is looks like initials.  Have also taken a pic of the cameo (I think it looks like someone has glued the material on around it but not sure).

Most likely one of the many companies operating in Empoli in the six- and seventies. Most of these merged at some stage and I do not think the labels were ever well documented.

I thought I would just add I have seen a pitcher today in pink with a white twisted foot like mine and it also had the same cameo with red felt and a chain around it.  I thought here is my chance to see what the label reads properly - you never guess what it was faded - bang goes that idea.  Needless to say though I can say that the cameo I thought had been added on was infact made that way.
