Shoot me down in flames but after trawling a dozen sites the surface decoration reminds me of Loetz 'papillon',or am I barking up the wrong tree, again!

For what it is worth, it is not Loetz.

What is the base color of the glass. Any possibility of an image in natural light without a flash? It appears to be darker reddish glass at the top and fades to a different color (greenish) at the bottom, but that could be because of the flash.

It's a deep ruby red at the top fading to 'orangy' at the base, difficult to photo as camera is a cheapo digital and insists on using the flash even in daylight, will try if the sun comes out,Keith.

The color fade and the shape would lead to attribute it to Rindskopf, as a variant of the Pepita line. Pepita normally fades to green at the bottom, but I have seen a few examples that were closer to orange in the lower portion. It is a tough piece to attribute accurately without really seeing good images. The shape is very Rindskopf like.

Schlierslee made stuff very similar to this. I would consider that firm as a possibility.
