tall, cased, blue and green vase, nice quality, any ideas???
« on: January 21, 2010, 11:08:26 AM »
Hi all
i picked this up for 99p, not been able to pin down an ID.
It is made from green and blue glass cased in very clear glass (the green and blue are very similar to IOW colours).
The base is smooth well polished with a ground out and polished pontil mark
It stands at 31cms tall, well made and quality glass
any ideas on who and when??
many thanks
michelle

I had a vase like this once, and am pretty sure it is Czech.  It is shown in the Hi Sklo Lo Sklo book, same blue and yellow glass but different shape.

Michelle,
try page 51, i think thats what Paul means, interesting similarities, i think more yellow in the Prachen vases.

ahh OK, there are slight similarities, but i would say a definate no to being the same, the colouring is completly different and the way its been done, mine is more streaked blobs and the green is def green not yellow, which has been done the same as the blue in streaked blobs if that makes sense.
The base is similar with the casing, the base  on mine is rounded whereas the base appears more straigh in the prachen pieces, rims are completly different too.

It's not the same then.

I looked at your original photos on a different, better computer screen and the colors are much clearer.  Your photos show a decidedly more green and blue piece, whereas the Czech pieces are clearly yellow and blue.  Thus, the Czech attribution is perhaps indeed dubious.  Good luck.

There's a Flora here scroll down and on RHS. It's much more opaque streaks
